Makeover

If you follow me on twitter, you may have noticed me whining about having to wait for some wheelset to come in. Thank my lucky stars that Fast Folks finally got that shit in. What we have here is a nice little fixie built up from an old Shcwinn road racer, after giving it a little custom paint, (furious pink blending into diamond grey with a triple acylic clearcoat.) I handed it over to Neil, and he hooked it up with a nice Soma seat, a perfect set of riser bars, clear Oury grips, all new hardwear, and some All-City hubs laced with black spokes to Velocity deep-v's. White in the back, silver in the front. The matching quad LED's are a plus as well. It's got a buttery new bottom bracket and a 46:17 gearing, and I fucking love it.

Thanks Dino for the frame, and to Natalie, and everyone at Fast Folks for hooking it up!

I'm Loving It.

Here is a recent sampling of some things I thought was cool enough to spend money on...

First up, a great example of Chinese bootleg technology. It actually writes letters quit well, but I'm not so sure about it's permanant-ness.

Evan Gruzis- Dark Systems
A great book I picked up from The Menil Collection bookstore. On the sale rack for like $5. A great Los Angeles based artist, he makes amazing images of Cali pop culture, all with pen and ink.

And while in Houston, saw some great graffiti:

Last but not least, I picked up some new Deluxe wood from No Comply skateshop in Austin. I've been riding blanks for a minute, so it feels good to finally have a quality board underneath my feet, all for $45 with grip.

Success.

Last night was fun. This is just a quikie preview of the installation room, from Phive's cell phone. I'll be posting a lot more stuff here and at www.flickkr.com/photos/failure1

Coming Soon

I've been working on some homemade inks for a good while. I'm starting to get some formulas down, and have been getting some good results on some recent canvases, and such. These will be available shortly for your dripping pleasure.

Fucking Amazing

KAWS is the shit. Period. The only work of his I have seen in person was a bike he did for a RVCA show that passed through Mellow Johnny's, and a wall painting at Stussy L.A. I would give anything to have hands like that.

Winne The Pooh X Hiroshi Fujiwara X Medicom

I'm not super crazy about designer vinyl, but every now and then, something comes along that is just plain dope. This new Winnie The Pooh toy is unbelievably simple, and perfect, and the plush version is perfect for giving to cute girls. Produced by Medicom and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design, and sure as hell worth looking for.
